Though Gothita is not shiny in Pokémon Go right now, if we were to hazard a guess, we would say it’s a firm Community Day candidate for sometime in the future, where it could make its shiny debut. (This is when you weight up its fan-favourite status, multiple evolutions, and final evolution Gothietelle being - by all accounts - a strong Psychic type.) The Gothita Spotlight Hour overlaps with the Halloween event, which currently has a double Candy bonus active. This means with a Pinap Berry, you’ll earn 12 Gothita per catch. Even without the Halloween bonus, since final evolution Gothietelle being a decent Psychic type, and Gothita being a possible Community Day candidate, stocking up on Candy is recommended. And if you don’t want Gothita candy, with the XL Candy bonus for Buddies currently active during Halloween, Spotlight Hour is a nice excuse to get some miles in for that alone. The Spotlight Hour bonus is also an important consideration. In the case of Gothita, this is double catch XP - and serves as one of the fastest ways to get XP in Pokémon Go if you manage to catch using an Excellent throw - taking you from 1,000 XP to a doubled 2,000 XP. Put on a Lucky Egg? That’s 4,000 XP per catch. To put it into context, three Excellent catches during Spotlight Hour with a Lucky Egg gives you 2,000 more XP than a Legendary Raid (10,000 XP) with far less time and effort involved.
Don’t forget you have just a single hour - between 6pm and 7pm local time - to catch as many Spotlight Hour Pokémon as possible. If you miss out, then don’t sweat it - all four Spotlight Hour bonuses rotate around each month, and the highlighted creature will usually appear in great numbers again as part of a future event.
