Silksong, which was unveiled early last year for Switch and PC, started life with the goal of adding a second playable DLC character to Hollow Knight, but its sheer ambitious scale eventually saw Team Cherry electing to turn it into a standalone title instead. Given that it promises another bout of gorgeously moody Metroidvania-style action very much in line with its critically acclaimed predecessor - albeit with a new protagonist, Hornet - fans have been understandably anxious to learn more....

Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown had previously been set to arrive this September for PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. Today, publisher Nacon announced the PS4 and Xbox One versions had been dropped, “with the aim of making the most of the technology in the latest consoles and maximising the overall quality of the game”. “With so much support from fans of the series, we know many of you will be disappointed,” Nacon said of the game’s delay to next year, “but our goal with Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is to make it the most polished gaming experience in the franchise by spending more time on its development....

The Switch strategy RPG sold over 200k in Japan and Asia. The news was shared on Twitter in a message from producer Tomoya Asano, along with artwork from character designer and artist Naoki Ikushima. For comparison, Octopath Traveller sold 1m copies in its first three weeks, while Bravely Default 2 sold 950k in around 7-8 months. The numbers are impressive for such a niche genre. Perhaps the success of Fire Emblem: Three Houses (around 3m copies sold in its first year) has ignited interest in the genre....

The seven-time winner of the Classic Tetris World Championship died of a “sudden medical emergency” on 4th January 2021, a statement issued on Neubauer’s Twitter page reads. “He was the absolute best,” the message continues. “We are devastated, overwhelmed with grief, and we already miss him dearly.” Neubauer, who lived in Kaaawa, Hawaii with his wife Heather Ito, was well-known and much-loved within the world of Tetris esports, and is considered one of the all-time great Tetris players....

The actor voiced Batman for 30 years across television, film and video games. The news of his death was confirmed by Warner Bros. on Friday. Several of his colleagues paid tribute to Conroy on Friday, and more shared their respects for him over the weekend. Voice actress Tara Strong, known for voicing Batgirl, shared her experiences working with Conroy over the years. “Thanks to his brilliance,” she wrote, “his voice lives on forever”....

While the developer/publisher did not explicitly reveal any further information about the game’s development, in a discussion about the company’s most recent earnings report, CFO Frederick Dugent said he was “very happy” with progress thus far, and reportedly has no plans to cancel or delay the project further (thanks, TheGamer). It might not seem like much, but with numerous high-profile delays, issues, and operational changes, Ubisoft’s been surprisingly taciturn, so pirate fans will likely be happy just to hear that the game’s still in development....

News that dodgy beta invites have been doing the rounds first surfaced in a tweet from YouTuber theRadBrad. “Just a heads up to all content creators,” he wrote, “There is an email from the official Ubisoft address going around that claims beta access to Far Cry 6. It even has an embargo with a special password for access.” According to theRadBrad, clicking on the invite’s accompanying link will install a virus that “watches your screen and records everything you do....

Anyone who’s played Arc System Works’ superb fighting game will be aware of the annoyingly-long login time you face when you start the game. It takes so long I’ve sometimes walked away from my PlayStation to put the kettle on while Guilty Gear sorts itself out. Detailing an upcoming patch due out 15th October, ASW said the update “reduces the time required to authenticate the online server when launching the game”....
