As reported by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, sources familiar with the matter say the next Dragon Age title was previously being designed with a heavy multiplayer component. The project reportedly first entered development in 2015, but Bloomberg says the original vision was rebooted by EA and BioWare in 2017, in a grasp for long-term monetisation. This reboot - supposedly dismissed by some employees as “Anthem with dragons” - is said to be the reason behind the departure of creative director Mike Laidlaw that same year....

In a statement issued this afternoon, Sony said online services for LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet 2, LittleBigPlanet 3 (PS3) and LittleBigPlanet PS Vita are all now offline for good after a long period of downtime. In the same breath, Sony updated LittleBigPlanet 3 to bring the LittleBigPlanet server and all 10m+ community levels back online for PlayStation 4 users only. The news comes after a difficult year for LittleBigPlanet. In April, Eurogamer reported on how community content for various games in the LittleBigPlanet series remained largely inaccessible six weeks after PlayStation first acknowledged issues with the servers....

Soul Hackers 2 borrows its gameplay elements from other recent Atlus titles, so at a basic level, it’s a turn-based RPG oriented around exploiting weaknesses, which is an enjoyable enough system but nothing out-of-the ordinary for RPG veterans. There are some twists, like an overkill-style mechanic that rewards strategic play, and plenty of customization. But this isn’t especially novel. Elsewhere, however, this game really shines. Soul Hackers 2 is a party-oriented title that weaves multiple characters through a winding, serialised story....

Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars launch together on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch in 2023. The trailer below shows off each game’s remastered look: Suikoden 1 and 2 are critically-acclaimed Japanese role-playing games that launched on the original PlayStation in the mid-’90s. It’s a game by Chilean developer Ace Team, which burst onto the scene with the strikingly surreal Zeno Clash in 2009 (and then Rock of Ages after). Remember that? The Eternal Cylinder is so similar! It’s a kaleidoscopically colourful and bizarre world full of huge creatures a bit like snails and insects, and some I just have no idea what they’re supposed to be. But here they are, in a world of big stone towers and beams of light, and strange planets in the background....

It has, of course, been a long and eventful road for the System Shock remake, which was originally intended to be a remaster of Looking Glass Technologies’ cult-classic 1994 sci-fi horror before ballooning in scope. By the time its Kickstarter commenced in July 2016, Nightdive was calling it a “reboot” and, after a rocky period of development, the studio announced it was putting the project on hiatus after letting “things get out of control”....

That’s between both physical and digital sales, just six months after the previous milestone announcement of 1.5 million. “We are so grateful for your precious support. Thank you!” tweeted the official account. Tales of Arise is the fastest-selling game in the series, hitting 1m sales worldwide in under a week. However, Tales of Vesperia remains the top selling game in the series at 2.8m; so there’s still a ways to go before Arise takes the crown....
