By reading every File in a single playthrough you can unlock the The Devil Is in the Details Trophy / Achievement, and since there are instances where you cannot backtrack to previous areas, it helps to get them first time. Before we get into the issues - and there are issues - let’s cover the positives. Many of the visual highlights we discovered in the PC version have made it to the current-gen console versions on PS5, and Series X. Ray-traced ambient occlusion is a superb extra that adds more realistic shading, especially noticeable in dark interiors, without any of the artefacting we’d see in a screen-space solution. Saints Row’s lighting and volumetric effects are also spectacular, from the sand whirling behind cars in desert chases at dusk or the way smoke billows in front of headlights....

Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion Virtual Machine (ScummVM) is a program that allows you to run many classic point-and-click adventure games and RPGs on modern computers. ScummVM was created by then computer science student Ludvig Strigeus, who pushed the initial revision of the code, version 0.0.1., on 9th October 2001. It was originally created to play LucasArts adventure games that use the Scumm system, but it supports many non-Scumm games, too....

An officially-licensed compilation of 18 Olympic sport mini-games, it will launch for PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Stadia and Xbox. Of course, it’s unsurprising Sega has left this news until so late. While the real-world Olympics are (currently) set to go ahead in July, a year later than originally planned, the debate continues on whether it is right to hold the games at all while many countries - not least its host, Japan - continue to struggle with the impacts of coronavirus....

But why do we need a demo at all? After all, Sega’s marketing did seem to imply that the blistering speed and wonderful visuals of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was indeed powered by Blast Processing. However, it turns out that this is not the case, and it seems that Sega of America’s marketing team latched onto the term from a technical presentation, disregarding what the technology actually does and where it could be applied - probably because it sounded rather cool....

The impressive Road Hog engine takes a backseat this time to Unreal Engine 4 - a controversial decision that doesn’t quite pay off. Meanwhile, the lack of native current-gen versions of the game is a genuine disappointment - owners of new consoles essentially get accelerated versions of the last-gen game, missing key visual features. The changes to gameplay are worth focusing on to begin with: Shadow Warrior’s 2013 reboot was a fast-paced classic FPS, filled with health drops and secret locations - but with a surprisingly well crafted story and characters you could really care about....

Not only that, but fighting is made easier with the use of Snake Power - which costs a pricey 270 yuan - while the funds needed to buy capsules toys adds up, especially if you’re participating in side-quests such as Capsule of Love....

The anime adaptation of the cult classic Sega game was first announced back in September 2020, before being broadcasted and available to stream on Adult Swim and Crunchyroll respectively. A second season was reportedly in the works before the cancellation, which is likely a part of the wider purge by Warner Discovery of its properties following the merger of the two media conglomerates in April this year. Season one has also been removed from Adult Swim and several other streaming sites but will continue to be available on Crunchyroll for now....

Originally revealed back in 2017 and in development since 2013, the project’s launch has been repeatedly pushed back - and was most recently expected to arrive in November this year. In a press release this afternoon, Ubisoft said it had made the decision to delay Skull and Bones once again following player feedback from its recent testing programme. “While the game development is finished at this stage, the extra time will be used to further polish and balance the experience using players’ feedback from our Technical tests and Insider Program which happened over the past two weeks,” Ubisoft wrote....

The move follows an earlier proposal to investigate the two companies’ market power, and a year-long study of the iPhone and Android ecosystems. That report, published in June, determined Apple and Google held “an effective duopoly” over smartphone markets, allowing them to “exercise a stranglehold” over mobile operating systems, app stores and web browsers. Further work by the CMA included consultations with unnamed “cloud gaming service providers”, as well as web developers and browser makers, who said Apple and Google’s approach was “harming their businesses, holding back innovation, and adding unnecessary costs”....

Reddit user jamcar70 shared their impressive milestone on the game’s subreddit, to a stunned response. The feat took jamcar70 two years, 34 days and four hours of playtime to achieve, as shown on their screenshot to prove their in-game savings. Doing some approximate maths, and independently verified by myself, one user calculated this to be an average of about six hours of playtime per day since the game’s launch on 1st October 2013 - and that’s only if jamcar70 did put in some hours every single day....

Granted, Sega’s plentiful, if scattershot, drip-feed of information over the last few months means none of the information in today’s trailer is particularly new, but it’s certainly more digestible - and understandable - than trying to mentally scoop together a picture of Sonic Frontiers from countless previews and reveals. The gist, then, is that having somehow found his way into a strange dimension known as Cyber Space, Sonic escapes to Kronos - one of the Starfall Islands where players will be able to embark on Frontiers’ non-linear “open zone” gameplay....

Sonic Origins reminds me of Sonic Jam for the Sega Saturn - the first complete collection porting each of the original Mega Drive games to a new platform, with a huge selection of bonus material including videos, music and illustrations. So this is effectively Sonic Jam 2 - all the 16-bit games, plus Sonic CD, surrounded by a wide range of bonus material and alternative gameplay modes designed to expand upon the formula....
