Tetris: The Grand Master is a series of tricky Tetris games made for arcades by Japanese developer Arika, popular since 1998. In a tweet spotted by Nintendo Life, Arika vice-president Ichiro Mihara broke the news that ports of the games were meant to be announced today but “had to be withheld for reasons beyond our control”, inadvertently announcing that the games exist at all. The ports will be of the arcade games, but a new entry in the series may be on the way too, although the licensor “has made it conditional on the success of these ports”....

It features a redesigned chassis compared to previous generations, with a sleeker look to it, and some key features changed for the better. For instance, the DPI shift button is both reversible and removable for the moments you may not need such precise aiming, such as during FPS games for instance. In other case, the fan-favourite dual mode scroll wheel has been redesigned to not only offer the usual ratchet scroll and free scrolling options, but it’s now also a tilt wheel for even more precise control....

Gematsu spotted The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has rated The Medium for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series (presumably that means Xbox Series X and S). Bloober Team’s well-received third-person psychological horror game The Medium launched digitally for Xbox Series X and S and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store in January, as well as via Xbox Game Pass. “Bloober Team goes back to the classics for possibly its best effort yet,” Vikki Blake said in Eurogamer’s The Medium review....

The original Forza Horizon game was briefly available to buy from the Xbox store yesterday. While there’s no official word on whether or not the game’s return to the Xbox store was intentional, the racer has already been removed again, albeit not quite before some gamers managed to buy and download it (thanks, VGC). Now, Microsoft has announced a partnership with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to create smaller fridges shaped like Xbox Series X but sized a lot closer to the console itself. Why The Rock? Well, the wrestler-turned-movie star just so happens to have created a new energy drink, Zoa, to store in said fridge, and he’s keen to get the gamers onboard. Celebrities and influencers received some of these fridges over the course of this week....

The Pastel Pop Kit ushers in a selection of home furnishings and decorative additions - including mirrors, shelves, and desk items - with a focus on the “simple and psychedelic”. That means “quirky pastel prints, irregular shapes, and vintage vibes” inspired by 60s and 70s design. The new Stuff Pack takes things a step further, introducing a new lot type - Tiny Home Residential - that allows you to formally declare your intention to build a tiny home and track your level of success, as well as allowing your Sims to gain a variety of benefits for your creative problem solving and attention to detail....

Once it was the novelty of having these things on the go, plus the ease of playing vertical scrolling shooting games as intended in ’tate’ mode with the screen flipped (and without worrying about permanent damage like I used to when pushing a chunky old CRT on its side to play Ikaruga as Treasure intended). Yesterday, Dontnod announced a €30m (£26.5m) financing deal with Chinese tech giant Tencent for “new self-published intellectual properties” - a plan first mentioned to GamesIndustry.biz in an interview last November. Dontnod has worked with various publishers in the past, including Focus Home Interactive for Vampyr and Xbox for Tell Me Why, though it ultimately self-published its most recent game Twin Mirror after an initial publishing deal with Bandai Namco was dropped....

The anime-streaming service launched for Nintendo Switch in the UK this week, with a refreshed app design that will also roll out to other platforms in the future. Sony Pictures Entertainment bought a 95 per cent stake in Funimation back in 2017, and as of last year now owns it outright. Back in January, Netflix confirmed it would discontinue its apps for both 3DS and Wii U on 30th June....

First up is The Tower of Doooom, planned for launch in “early 2023”.
