This VR-enhanced version will contain the 2004 first-person shooter and its expansions Resurrection of Evil and The Lost Mission, enhanced with new textures, sound effects and virtual reality features. The game makes use of the system’s Aim controller for its motion-controlled flashlight-mounted weapons. You’ll also use it to check your handy wrist-mounted display. There’s also a 180-degree quick-turn function to catch any demons creeping up behind you. Bethesda is still currently an independent company, and its Microsoft buyout has yet to go through....

This latest journey to the realms of spookidom is the third Halloween event for Dreams, following previous outings that saw Media Molecule collaborating with its community to create explorable haunted houses and then, last year, a creepy old fairground. Things are getting a little more fantastical this time around, however, with a quest to the far-flung Land of Lost Dreams, where players can embark on a quest full of odd characters and puzzles as they attempt to uncover a “rich and unnerving history”....

This version of the game will be sold for $30, and include a slightly-less-old pixel art style to make the whole thing a little easier on the eye. Today’s debut trailer for Glimmerwick shows off some of its core mechanics, such as music-based magic and magic-based gardening. It is currently listed on Steam with a Q3 2023 release date, and there’s word the game will also turn up on consoles. There are Hogwarts-esque potions lessons to attend, and grumpy trees to avoid. A press release also boasts of RPG-style quests, adventure game-esque exploration and life sim mechanics. The mode is essentially a campaign mode and was popular in the game’s previous iteration as Pro Evolution Soccer. However, in an update thread on Twitter, Konami has stated this mode “will be available as additional paid content during 2023”. The thread also states: “The number of teams that can be used in leagues and club teams will be expanded and distributed as additional paid content by the end of 2022”....

Announcing the initiative on its on its website, Eidos Montreal explained it would begin closing its Montreal and Sherbrooke studios each Fridays within the next few weeks - shifting its teams from the current 40-hour weekly work schedule to 32 hours “without changing the working conditions currently in place nor the salaries of employees”. “The idea is not to condense the working hours into four days, but rather to review our ways of doing things and our quality time invested, with the aim of working better”, explained Eidos Montreal head of studio David Anfossi of the move, with the ultimate goal being to “reduce the time at work, but increase the quality of this time invested”, boosting the “productivity and well-being of our employees” along the way....

Its sales total was just shy of the amount PlayStation exclusive Horizon Forbidden West managed last week. Sony’s blockbuster now sits in second place. Today, GamesIndustry.biz noted Elden Ring’s sales were up by 26 percent on 2016’s Dark Souls 3 - even though boxed game sales have fallen since then. (As ever, numbers data from GfK Chart-Track does not include digital downloads.) We’ll get a clearer picture of Elden Ring’s overall sales performance as the week continues, but for now it’s clear the game has beaten every other Souls launch by quite some margin....

Given that players will have the option to hop out of their ships and stroll around on-foot in Odyssey, Elite dangerous’ planetary systems have received a major overhaul. As part of these changes, new geological features and pockets of life will be available for discovery by thorough explorers, which can, in turn, be scanned to generate sellable data. Frontier says it’s now quadrupled the number of vegetation species in Elite Dangerous as part of its planetary overhaul, and those players interested in making a profit from the organic life they encounter will first need to acquire a Supratech Artemis Suit - purchasable from all good space stores - granting access to the new Genetic Sampler....

Quantic Lab came under scruntiny in June when a YouTube video uploaded by channel Upper Echelon Gamers contained details of mismanagement and malpractice at the company while it was helping with development on Cyberpunk 2077. The allegations, shared with Upper Echelon Gamers by whistleblowers, were brushed off by Quantic Lab CEO and founder Stefan Seicarescu at the time.
